Chili Soup



1 cup wheat berries 640
1 cup pinto beans    790
1T sugar                      50
2T vinegar
2T chili seasoning
(1T oregano)
1t. salt

Soak beans overnight, drain, rinse.  Cover with plenty of water (2 qts.)
Bring to boil, skim foam and then lower to slow simmer.
While beans are getting a head start, toast wheat berries, add to bean pot.
Simmer until beans and berries are soft (about 2 hours)
At the end add seasonings, simmer a few more minutes, then let sit to marry the flavors.
